Fun atomosphere.  If you like some of the German beers, or even Chimay, this place will be right up your alley.  The food is good, although not the best, but most is better than  expected given the expectations of bar food.  They offer a lunch special during the week.  At busy times, and when sporting events are being aired, be prepared for longer wait times.  Family friendly.  Staff is friendly.  Good place to go to grab a beer, eat some food and watch sports.

Hi. I was also stationed at Lajes. Oct 07-09. We loved it there. We lived off base in the town of Feteria just past Porto Judeu.

If you would like I would love to send you a packet of info that I found helpful about things to do on the island. I would love to get it on the internet and you already seem to have a nice little site started.

Do people on base know about your site?? I think it could be a huge help.

My husand is LRS. We were there while Briggs, Suarez, and Poore were the base commanders and the LRS commanders were Coley and Bloker.

Beautiful island. I miss it everyday. Im glad to see you taking advantage of all it has to offer.

If you like to hike this site http://www.trails-azores.com/index.php?ilha=terceira has a map of all of the marked hiking trails on the island. I did all 5 while I was there. A beautiful way to spend a Saturday and see the island.

Thanks for your comment. I am glad you enjoyed your time on the island as much as we have. We’ve been here over a year now so we have had a chance to see and do quite a few things here. We also live off base which is nice to feel more like a part of the local community. I would be interested in seeing whatever information you had and found helpful. Those hikes sound good. We have found a few of the marked trails but have not officially hiked any of them. Some people on base know about the site, and others find it because I have it set up with key words that I know people will search for on the internet. I still have tons more to post but this time of year has been rather busy. I started this for the simple reason that Americans moving here will be searching in English and not Portuguese, which you probably know turns up very little. It makes it hard to know what is nearby and by the time you discover things to could be time to go already, so I hope others find this helpful. Thanks again for checking out my site.
