Located in Angra, to enter, go upstairs for the restaurant.  Ambientes Com Sabores might be one of the most expensive restaurants on the island, but the food is worth it.  You can tell immediately upon entering that there is something different about this place.  The decor varies from room to room.  Expect your meal to be presented well on the plate.  The creative and presntation here could be successful in any major US city.

They serve the BioFontinhas salad here.  Main dishes include selections of beef and fish, along with varied seafood options.  If you like ahi tuna, order the sesame crusted tuna.  The shrimp salad with mango and papaya is big enough to be a complete meal.  Save room for dessert.  If you like rich, go with the triple mousse sampler.

Since the menu is not in English, do not hesitate to ask the server if you have questions.  Even better, trust the staff and take their recommendations.  Tell them what you like and they will find something you will enjoy.  As this is a little more pricey than most restaurants, consider this a good bet for a special occassion, a special weekend date night, or just a splurge on a good meal.

Clams on salad? YUM! Or maybe they’re mussels. Either way…YUM!!! I love those appertivi plates…at least that’s what they’re called in Italian — the 3 connected bowls. We brought one back from our travels but unfortunately it says “Heineken” across the sides! LOL!

    Have a great day, Melinda!

We finally tried this one- we went for lunch on a weekday (my b-day), so they had a 9 Euro plate of the day. (A choice of ribs or salmon). We had the salmon, and it was some of the best I’ve ever had-seared on the outside and perfectly tender inside. It came on a bed of quinoa with sauteed veggies and a lemon sauce over all. Soooo good!! The Prato do Dia also included a soup (fresh pea- very good) and a dessert- a passionfruit sauce over this cloudy white thingy.
