This is a major festival featuring food, music and parades.  The main pavillion features restaurants, mostly from the mainland.  Complete set ups with tables and bars.  Menus feature traditional Portuguese items, Portuguese wine and beer.  Many festival goers will dine late in the evening, so if you go early, that is likely why the places are empty.  Don’t be afraid to be adventurous.  You might find some interesting items being served.

The secondary pavilion offers other vendors with cheeses, meats, alcohol, coffee and sweets for sale.  There are many options, so come hungry.  The convention center like pavilions are right on the marina, but the activity is not limited to this area.  Even now you can see where things are being set up for the festivities.  Live music available along the water front.  Additional food vendor booths/carts along the area heading from the marina back toward the base.  Late night activities available too.  Make sure to catch the parade.  Calendars and additional information should be available on base.

This is a great way to mingle with the locals and visitors from the mainland.  It is a great lesson in Portuguese food and culture.  This event is not to be missed!
